Chapter 978
Cole reached out and gently ruffled her hair. “Never doubt my love for you. Eva has never mattered in my life.”
Cole then proceeded to explain in detail why he had once proposed to Wanda. Although Elliana already knew the whole story, she still listened intently.
After finishing his account, Cole said, “If not for my mistaken belief that Wanda was the one my mother wanted me to marry, I’d never have had any dealings with Eva. That mistake is over. All ties are cut. She means nothing to me now.” Elliana felt sweetness stir inside her, though she still pouted. “Then why answer her call at all?”
Cole answered, “I picked up because of you. You’re Arthur’s daughter, and she’s his wife. That’s the only reason. If you think that my not answering her calls won’t affect you, then I won’t take her calls in the future.”
At these words, every trace of grievance in her heart melted away. His choice was clear, his loyalty absolute. She couldn’t help but smile. Looking at him, she said, “I don’t want you to take her calls or address her as your aunt. I want you to have nothing to do with her. I will deal with her one day.”
“Alright.” Cole agreed without hesitation. Right there in front of her, he deleted all of Eva’s contact details and blocked her permanently.
Elliana’s heart soared at his decisiveness. “So, does this mean whatever I ask of you, you’ll do?”
Cole nodded. “Yes.”
Elliana grinned and made her bold request. “Then come with me to visit my family.”
At Lilah’s suggestion to meet her family now, Cole’s easy confidence faded in an instant. He pressed his lips together, unease creeping in. He had just vowed to spend his life with Lilah, the woman he loved, so, of course, he was ready to meet her family. But the Campbells were no ordinary family.
The Evans family and Arthur had been at odds for years because of Eva’s shameful actions. To make things worse, Cole had once proposed to Wanda. Now, showing up as Lilah’s boyfriend, Cole wondered if her father would open his arms—or slam the door. And then there was Milton, his daunting soon-to-be brother-in-law.

Cole still remembered the stern warning Milton had given him yesterday—stay away from Lilah. If both Arthur and Milton decided to shut him out, how was he supposed to face it?
Elliana saw straight through his worries. She leaned closer, a teasing smile on her lips. “What’s wrong? Don’t want to go?”
Cole let out an awkward laugh. “Why wouldn’t I?”
He clicked his seatbelt into place and started the car. “What do you think I should bring as a gift?”
Elliana chuckled softly. So, he was really going? That took guts. “No need to be so formal. It’s just dinner. Gifts aren’t necessary.”
She hadn’t planned to reveal her true identity as the Campbell heiress yet, but circumstances forced her hand. She refused to be branded as the other woman or let anyone whisper that she had stolen Wanda’s man. The source of th?s content is f?i?n?d?n?o?v?e?l?.net
Back when she married into the Evans family as Elliana, the internet had buzzed with groundless rumors that she had taken Paige’s fiancé. That shadow had hung over her marriage.
After everything she and Cole had been through, they had finally found their way back to love. This time, she wanted it free of baseless gossip.
